When the executives at the Andy Roddick Foundation reached out to us and asked if we could help them pivot from their annual, in-person gala fundraiser to a virtual, pay-per-view broadcast we jumped at the opportunity. The Andy Roddick Foundation is one Austin’s biggest and longest running non-profits having over twenty years under their belts helping underserved children and communities in Austin. Not only do they do an amazing job helping our kids, they also put on one of the most fun, star studded galas of the year. This year would be no exception!
Brooklyn Decker, Andy Roddick’s wife, organized a virtual roast of Andy that included local and national celebrities ripping into Andy in a fun, hysterical way, all to raise money for the non-profit organization. The celebrities included: John Legend, Chrissy Tiegan, Peyton Manning, Mandy Moore, Tiffany Theison, Nick Kroll, Bobby Bones, Kendra Scott with a special presentation by Serena Williams.
Brooklyn asked all of the celebrities to send us videos that they created to roast Andy. We edited all of these and put them together along with many outtakes of Andy’s previous commercials and television spots. We then brought Brooklyn and Andy to our studios, created a fun living room set and filmed their reactions as they watched the celebrity roasters. Brooklyn did an amazing job hosting the event and Andy was a great sport as they all poked fun at him. We also had the CEO of The Andy Roddick Foundation film a segment of how the foundation had pivoted and succeeded during these unprecedented times. Since it was a fundraiser there were many calls to action to donate.
We wanted to make it really fun so we created a Saturday Night Live theme adding in music and voiceover and graphics to make it feel like an actual Saturday Night Live show. We helped the foundation find a quality pay-per-view platform that we’ve used before and we broadcasted the event for participants around the world. We heard there were many socially distant, pod events happening all over Austin and surrounding areas AND they broke all previous fundraising records. We love when our community gets together to support others from our community that are in need.
Here is some feedback we received from the Andy Roddick Foundation:
Working with Zodiac Studios was seamless, professional, and efficient. Trying to produce a virtual fundraiser during a global pandemic presented challenges and multiple unexpected curveballs; every time we threw a last-minute change to the Zodiac team, they took it all in stride. Moreover, they made the process enjoyable. The team is incredibly responsive, accommodating, clear with their needs and deadlines, and has excellent taste and creative ability. I can’t wait to work with them again.
